Tighthead Brewing Company is a production brewery in Mundelein Illinois that is dedicated to crafting quality beer for all seasons. Nestled in a small community in Northern Illinois, Tighthead provides fresh, quality craft beer to Lake County and the Chicagoland area.

Founded by Owner and Brewmaster Bruce Dir, Tighthead incorporated in 2010 and opened it's doors in November of 2011. The Brewery consists of a new 15 BBL brewhouse fabricated by Newlands Systems Inc. and has capacity to produce up to 3,500 BBLs a year. At this time, Tighthead will only be distributing draft beer to local bars and restaurants with plans to begin packaging in the near future. The brewery also consists of a tap room that is open to the public and offers tours and other social events.

The name Tighthead was derived from the name of the Rugby position of Tighthead Prop. Owner Bruce Dir played this position for most of his 13 year rugby career and feels it is a fitting name for his brewery.  "The social aspect of Rugby is a very important and traditional part of the game... we want the tap room and the brewery to reflect this social, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere".

We hope you will give us a try and come see us soon. If you can't make it to the tap room for a pint or a growler, remember to ask for Tighthead beer at you favorite local establishment!

Cheers!
